Governor Ram Naresh Yadav during a meeting of state-level ragging monitoring cell on Saturday directed vice-chancellors and higher education officials to implement guidelines of anti-ragging on the campus. He also expressed his concern over findings of anti-ragging committee of Barkatullah University where 19 departments out of 23 were found not properly following guidelines of anti-ragging, sources said.
Expressing concern, the governor said, "Students take admission in educational institutions with lot of aspirations. But, incidents like ragging create terror in their mind."
He directed vice-chancellors to keep abreast of information regarding students residing in private hostels and rented accommodations.
The governor suggested students should be made aware that ragging is a criminal offence .
