YRF's 'Gunday' will be released in Bengali too

Director Ali Abbas Zafar's forthcoming project 'Gunday' will be dubbed in Bengali for the audience in West Bengal.

Produced by Yash Raj Films (YRF), this is for the first time that their production venture will be dubbed in Bengali for fans.

The movie will be released in Bengali on the same day it releases in Hindi.


'Gunday' stars Arjun Kapoor, Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra in the lead roles.

Shot extensively in Kolkata and other parts of Bengal, the film's backdrop essentially lends itself to releasing the film in Bengali.

"The film is set during Calcutta's (now Kolkata) most turbulent times of the 1970s and this is at the soul of the film with the characters seeped in the culture of that time.

"Consequently, the plan for releasing the film also in Bengali was finalised at the pre-production stage," said the movie's spokesperson.

'Gunday' stars Arjun Kapoor, Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra in the lead role. It is slated to release Feb 14.

Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone come together for 'Koffee with Karan'

Priyanka tweeted a picture of the threesome together and wrote: "And it's wrap on some fabulous Koffee... Thank you Deepika Padukone for having my back and Karan Johar for having us."

The fourth season of the chat show goes on air Dec 1 on Star World. Superstar Salman Khan will feature in the opening episode along with his father Salim Khan.

It would be Salman's first appearance on Koffee with Karan since it began in 2004.

Priyanka Chopra: Mary Kom's story is the same as mine

Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra, who is playing the five-time world boxing champion Mary Kom in a forthcoming biopic, says she shares a slice of life with the legendary sportswoman.

"Her story is same as that of mine. I too struggled when I came in the industry and cried alone. It is basically the story of every girl, who has a dream," Chopra said during an interaction at the ThinkFest.

The film is about the trials and tribulations of Mary, who was born to landless farmer in Manipur and subsequently rose to make a mark for herself as a boxer.

"What fascinates me about her is that I wanted to tell the story of real Mary," the actress said, adding that the story about the female sportswoman has never been told through the medium of films in India.

Although Mary is a boxer, she is a typical girl who wears nail paint beneath her boxing gloves, Chopra said. "She loves singing, watching movies and everything that a girl likes," the actress added.

Mary Kom, who was present during the interaction, narrated how North East girls are treated as Nepalis and non-Indians in other parts of the country including Delhi.

She said the situation in Manipur was dreadful.

"I am scared to move around without security. My department (police) has given me security... Otherwise it is not only me but even my family won't be safe," said the Arjuna awardee.

Should’ve taken time to deal with my dad’s loss: Priyanka Chopra

Just four days after her father’s death Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra resumed work and says she did so to escape from dealing with her loss. The actress’ father Ashok Chopra died in June this year after battling cancer. A doctor by profession, he had retired from the Indian Army in 1997 as lieutenant-colonel. “I don’t think it’s strength. I should have taken the time to deal with it. 

I wanted to run away from dealing with it and I did,” Priyanka told film critic and journalist Anupama Chopra on her show The Front Row. Courtesy: Facebook “I started work four days later, one, because my dad hated me sitting at home, and second, I would have lost my mind if I did.” “Losing my father was not just losing my dad, it was losing a part of me. My dad was my best friend, my idol and my protector. He was the man of my life, so I went back to work because that was my only solace and I haven’t stopped since,” she added. 

The episode will be aired Nov 8 on Star World. With an endeavour to try and become a renowned singer, which her father wanted her to be, the actress is slowly gaining success with her singles In my city and Exotic. “Hopefully, in a few years, I will be the musician that my dad wanted me to be or that I want to be. Whether it’s ‘In my city’ or whether it’s ‘Exotic‘, for them to have done as well as they did, to hear it on the radio in LA, it’s very cool,” she said. 

The actress is used to quick feedback for films, but music industry works at a different pace. “The way the music industry works, especially in the West, is that one single comes out, it develops, it bubbles, then another one comes out, it bubbles,” she said and added that the process takes a-year-and-a-half before your entire album comes. “Whereas, I’m so used to movies, where we know on a Monday whether the movie is a hit or a flop,” she said. 

For the actress who has proved her mettle in films like “Fashion“, “7 Khoon Maaf” and “Barfi!“, both singing and acting hold an important place. “I don’t know if I have a preference. I didn’t know anything about acting when I joined movies. I didn’t know it was an art, it was a craft.” “It took me around four or five years to find out the actor in myself. But music, I learned my alphabets singing. That’s how much it’s been a part of me,” she said.

Priyanka Chopra's Ram-Leela item number crosses one million hits

Actress Priyanka Chopra seems to be on a roll with her latest Ram-Leela item number Ram Chahe Leela crossing over one million hits in just three days. She says she is overwhelmed by the love and loyalty bestowed upon her by her fans.

Priyanka took to Twitter to thank her fans for liking her new dance number from Sanjay Leela Bhansali's movie, as well as her international single Exotic.

She is also happy with the viewership of the trailer of her next film Krrish 3, which releases on November 1.

"Milestones..Yesterday 'Exotic sales'! Today 'Ram Chahe Leela' (crosses) one million (hits) in just three days and 'Krrish 3' trailer (crosses) 17 million hits! Woohoo! Thank you all so much," she posted on the microblogging site on Saturday.

Talking about how different Ram Chahe Leela is, she said that she did a mujra in the song, but in a contemporary format.

"My mother and I were never allowed to walk out in our nighties. So when I walk out of an aircraft, I make my hair and wear my jacket. And I do that not only in India, but also when I land abroad as there are people all over to look at you", she added.
