Andhra Pradesh continues to remain on the edge. The curfew imposed last night in Vijayanagaram district following arson and looting is still on. Power in some districts has been hit as several government workers have joined the protests. The 48-hour bandh called by united AP the JAC ends today and today is also the last day of the 72 hr bandh called by YSR Congress.

The district has not seen this kind of agitation ever before, thus forcing authorities to take unprecedented security measures. Additional police forces have been rushed to the district. Sources say that over 500 police personnel have been deployed in the area with senior security officers also camping there.
YSR Congress Party chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy on Saturday launched an indefinite hunger strike against bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, holding Congress President Sonia Gandhi responsible for the "crisis" in the state and accusing her of exploiting sentiments of people to pave way for his son Rahul Gandhi to become prime minister. Jagan also announced his party would challenge the Union Cabinet's decision to grant Telangana in Supreme Court. Jagan, who began an indefinite fast at his Lotus Pond residence here at 11:30 am, appealed to Sonia to reconsider the decision, saying creation of new state would badly affect the future generations of one region.
