One of India’s greatest living legends, Dilip Kumar has no visitors in
his hospital suite at Lilavati. This, in an entertainment industry that
swears by his name and acting repertoire.
Says a close family friend of Dilip Kumar and his wife Saira, “No one except Amitabh Bachchan had the grace to pay Yusufsaab (Dilip Kumar) even a five-minute visit. At first we thought it was because he was in the ICU at the Lilavati.
The foyer outside the ICU has very little room for guests. But now he has moved into his own spacious suite and can entertain guests. In fact, I am sure he’d love to see all his friends, admirers and well-wishers who have sworn by his name for decades. But where they now?”
According to the family friend, Saira has taken the apparent snub from the film industry in a sporting way, rather than treating it as such. “Saira is philosophical about it. She tells us, ‘Jaane do. Woh busy honge. Mujhe pataa hai unki duaaein saab ke saath hain.”
